| The
design of the ecoresort was guided by a strong interest in cultural
sensitivity and environmental sustainability. The main lodge and dining
hall - inspired by indigenous architectural styles - are organized
around a courtyard that faces the iconic Fishtail Peak. Individual
stone bungalows house the guests, and are clustered together on terraced
ridgetops, like the surrounding Chettri villages. Local masons built
the lodge and bungalows using stone quarried directly from the site,
shaped with hand tools, and mortared in place with a mixture of red
clay found in the area. As a result, the resort fits naturally into
its ancient agrarian surroundings. |
